Do We Qualify for Free Medicaid Braces?
If your family uses Washington Apple Health (including Molina Healthcare plans), your child’s orthodontic care may be 100% covered. Because Apple Health handles dental benefits directly, we will use your ProviderOne card to check eligibility.
To be approved by the state for fully covered braces, your child must meet these three guidelines:
Fully Covered Braces requirements for Medicaid
- Age Requirement: The patient must be 20 years old or younger. (Unfortunately, Apple Health does not cover adult braces.
- Medical Necessity: Treatment must be medically necessary, not just cosmetic. This includes severe crowding, deep overbites, impacted teeth, ....
- Healthy Teeth & Gums: The state requires patients to have good oral hygiene before starting. This means no active cavities and good brushing habits!
How to Qualify for a Medicaid Sleep Appliance
- An Official Diagnosis: You must have a formal diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This requires completing a sleep study (either an at-home test or in a sleep lab) ordered by your medical doctor.
- Doctor's Referral: We will need a prescription or a letter of medical necessity from your primary care physician or sleep specialist recommending an oral appliance.
- CPAP Intolerance (For Severe Cases)
