When you see an orthodontist like Dr. Sogol, she’ll create a personalized treatment plan for you. But what exactly does that mean? How does it work for people in Everett? What kind of results can you reasonably expect? At Align Choice Orthodontics, you can count on a thorough treatment plan that puts you first. Your smile is unique, so your treatment plan should be, too. Your results won’t look exactly like your neighbors. And they shouldn’t—if your smile looked exactly like someone else’s, it wouldn’t be unique, would it? Here’s how our team handles personalized treatment plans.
Initial Consultation and Examination
The first step in creating your treatment plan is a free consultation. What happens at a free consultation? Dr. Sogol will put you on her schedule and talk with you free of charge. We’ll get to know you, and your consultation will help us understand your needs. What we learn during your consultation is the basis for your treatment plan.
Patient History
We start by reviewing your medical and orthodontic history. We need insight into any conditions or problems that might affect your treatment. We also need to know about any allergies (believe it or not, some people do have allergic reactions to orthodontic treatment). Let Dr. Sogol know about any medications or previous treatments you’ve had.
Visual Examination
Next, the doctor examines your teeth and jaw. She’ll also study the structure of your face. But why? Doesn’t orthodontics deal with your teeth? Yes, but not only your teeth. Your body is a compound machine. Every part is connected to something else. There are bones, tendons, and muscles that all influence how your teeth grow. Dr. Sogol needs to consider every variable in your personal treatment plan.
Impressions and Models
We take impressions of your teeth to make accurate models. These models let us see how your teeth fit together and plan the necessary adjustments. They’re a big part of what makes your treatment plan “personalized.” It wouldn’t make sense for us to make models for you based on someone else’s teeth. That’s crazy! We also don’t use stock molds. You don’t have a stock smile. So, no stock molds.
Photographs
Smile! It’s time for your close-up. Our Align Choice Orthodontics team will photograph your teeth, mouth, and face from various angles. These images document your current orthodontic condition and help us track your progress over time. Intraoral (inside your mouth) photos show us details of your teeth and gums. Extraoral photos (outside your mouth) capture your overall facial structure.
X-rays
X-rays give our team a detailed view of what happens behind the scenes with your teeth. Panoramic X-rays give a broad view of your entire mouth, while cephalometric X-rays focus on the side profile of your head. These images reveal issues that aren’t visible during a regular exam, such as impacted teeth. Impacted teeth are still in your gums. They haven’t emerged yet. X-rays help Dr. Sogol diagnose problems and plan for your treatment.
Analysis and Diagnosis
With your diagnostic records complete, we analyze the data to identify your orthodontic issues and develop a precise treatment plan. The doctor will address all aspects of your orthodontic health.
Occlusion Analysis
We look at how your upper and lower teeth fit together. The doctor will identify issues like overbite, underbite, and crossbite. If you hear one of our team members say “malocclusion,” this is what they’re referring to. Understanding your bite is crucial for planning treatment that improves its function and alignment.
Growth Prediction
Are you a parent in Everett? Dr. Sogol treats kids, too! For younger patients, we predict how their teeth and jaw will develop over time. This helps us plan treatments that accommodate future growth. We consider factors like jaw growth and tooth eruption patterns to help create a treatment plan just for your children.
Treatment Planning
Once we’ve analyzed and diagnosed your issues, we move on to the next step: creating a detailed treatment plan. We have all the information we need to personalize your treatment plan, which will fit you and no one else.
Treatment Options
What kinds of treatment options does Align Choice Orthodontics offer? Metal braces, clear braces, and clear aligners are the most common. Sound like a lot? Don’t worry. Dr. Sogol will explain everything you need to know before you start your treatment. If you have questions, please speak up! We can’t help what we don’t know!
Treatment Goals
Your goals will be specific and measurable. Yes, your smile will definitely improve. Your orthodontic health will absolutely get better. And you’ll have a particular framework for your treatment. The closer you follow the doctor’s instructions, the better your results will be. Stick to Dr. Sogol’s instructions, and your treatment will do its job in its specified time frame.
Timeline and Phases
We will give you a detailed timeline for your treatment, and we’ll break it down into different phases. Your timeline will include the estimated duration for each phase, from your initial fitting to final adjustments. You’ll have regular check-ups and adjustments scheduled to monitor your progress and make necessary changes. Remember to call us if you can’t make it to an appointment. We’re happy to work with you to get you rescheduled.
